Microcredit Regulatory Authority National Sports Council (NSC) Tower, 11th Floor Purana Paltan, Dhaka - 1000 Subject: EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR PREPARING RESEARCH PAPERS The Microcredit Regulatory Authority (MRA) has been established by the Government of Bangladesh effective from August 2006 with a view to creating an enabling environment for NGO-MFIs to work, promote and foster sustainable development of microfinance institutions in Bangladesh. MRA has been established under the act "Microcredit Regulatory Authority Act 2006" which is authorized to monitor and supervise microcredit sector under a full-fledged regulatory framework. Some of the activities of MRA are partially funded by DFID under the Project "Promoting Financial Services through Poverty Reduction" (PROSPER). MRA intends to undertake several research activities listed below covering regulatory issues and opportunities and prospect for development of microfinance institutions (MFIs). Research organizations and consultants/professionals having requisite qualifications and research related experience in the fields of microfinance are encouraged to apply and submit their research proposals by 30 June 2009 LIST OF RESEARCH AREAS AND TOPICS 1.
